    Paul, this is a fascinating article; I remember being in grade school probably in 1982 and reading a similar article in music class about compact discs, which I had never get witnessed in person. We never had a LaserDisc (or competitor) player in my family, but I was still amazed by the technology. 30-some years later, it’s very interesting to revisit the dawning of that phase of digital (and optical, etc). You did a fantastic job researching and explaining all the details and applications for the technology!
